Known as Tupuānuku, this hall boasts 504 single-bed student rooms across five floors, providing lifestyle accommodation for University of Canterbury students.
Our assignment was to provide fixed bedroom joinery in keeping with the cultural theme emphasized throughout Tupuānuku. The project called for the development of contemporary bedroom furniture, including shelving, a wardrobe, desk, and procurement of a sturdy bed frame for every room. The joinery needed to reflect the hall’s lifestyle and meet durability and seismic strengthening requirements.
Compac Commercial worked with the architect and main contractor to develop and fine-tune the joinery design for 504 student rooms and four staff rooms. Our sister-company Compac Home manufactured the joinery using laminate board product produced by Compac Panels. Compac Commercial then worked closely with our install team to complete each room. The outcome is stylish student bedroom joinery, built to budget and built to last.
